Effrey Valdez, Baseball
Year/Major: Senior/Hospitality
Effrey is the starting third basemen for the Bears baseball team. In 2010, he was 6th in the NCAA with a .438 batting average.
“My goal is to play professional baseball, it motivates me to work hard and have a great work ethic.”
George Carroll, Baseball
Year/Major: 5th year Senior/Business
George is the starting catcher and co-captain for the Bears baseball team. He missed the 2010 season r
ecovering from an elbow injury. Over the summer, he played in the well known Cape Cod Summer League in Massachusetts.
“My goal for the season is to help my team win the Great West Conference and earn a regional bid in the NCAA Tournament.”
Preston Wasmund, Baseball
Year/Major: Senior/Accounting
Preston is a pitcher and co-captain for the Bears baseball team. In 2010 he was the NYIT Scholar Athlete and also named to the Great West Conference’s All-Academic Team.
“My goal is to help lead our team to the Conference title and help our younger guys develop and grow as a team.”
Jamie Brooker, Softball
Year/Major: Junior/Computer Science
Jamie is the starting pitcher for the Lady Bears softball team. In 2010, Brooker had a record of 27-19 with a 3.47 earned run average (ERA).
“My goal for this season is to be on the ECC all-conference team and help my team win the conference.”
Bridgette Kirschner, Softball
Year/Major: Senior/Criminal Justice
Bridgette is the starting shortstop for the Lady Bears softball team. In 2010, she played the outfield and second base and is playing shortstop for the first time since high school.
“My goal for this season is to play shortstop at the level I did in high school and help my team win the conference.”
Marissa Brucceuleri, Softball
Year/Major: 5th Year Graduate School/Criminal Justice
Marissa is the starting second basemen for the Lady Bears softball team. In 2010, her season was cut short when she tore her ACL but still earned ECC All-Conference 1st team and ECC Softball Scholar Athlete of the Year.
“She’s a wonderful person and a great player,” says head coach Steve Christianson.
Billy McGee, Lacrosse
Year/Major: Junior/Business Marketing
Billy is the goalkeeper for the Bears Lacrosse team. He had a record of 4 wins and 3 losses in 2010 starting in 5 of his 7 appearances.
Ryan Amengual, Lacrosse
Year/Major: Senior/Business Marketing
Ryan is an attacker for the Bears Lacrosse team. In 2010 he had a total of 18 goals and 13 assists. He was named to the preseason First Team All-American by the ECC in December.
“My goal for this season is to win a national championship; I don’t care about any post season accolades for my personal play. If we get that championship, then I’m doing something right.”
